At Washington Junior Golf, we
are dedicated to supporting junior golfers by offering a comprehensive,
competitive sports program which helps to provide lifelong benefits
through the building of character and sportsmanship.
Our program
is for players between the ages of 8-17. (Your age is determined
by how old you are as of June 1 in the year of competitive play.)
You must be a resident of the WJGA territory (Washington State and parts
of the Idaho Panhandle) during our season to be eligible for membership.
We expect our members to be able to play golf independently.
We do not allow advice to be given to players during their round.
Players must be able to walk and carry/push their own clubs. No
caddies are allowed. See the
Membership page and
Code of Conduct for more details
We expect our members to know the basic
rules of golf: options for relief from hazards, cart path
relief, out of bounds, and lost ball.
We hold four one-day tournaments in each of six districts across the
state. From those tournaments, players qualify to play in a two-day
district tournament held the third week of July. The district
tournament serves as a qualifier for the three-day state tournament
held the last week of July.
In addition to our district tournaments and
the state tournament, WJGA runs the qualifying tournaments for 15-17
year-old golfers seeking to compete in the Junior World tournament
in San Diego. WJGA also sponsors teams that compete in
regional competition: Junior America’s Cup and Hogan Cup for
boys; Junior America’s Cup and North Pacific Junior Ladies for
girls. See the
Tournaments page for more details about competitive play.
And go to the
Registration page to learn how to become a member.
WJGA is not for beginners. Only experienced
players who can consistently score within the following guidelines are
ready for our competitive program.
