Boys and girls who qualify to play in the USGA Junior Amateur or Girls’ Junior Amateur will be exempt from having to qualify (at the District Championship) to play in the 2011 State Championship. If the player so exempted elects to play in their District Championship, the player then must qualify to earn a position in the State Championship. To use this exemption, the player must play in at least one WJGA sub-district event during the 2011 WJGA season and the player must notify the Executive Director by July 8, 2011.

GIRLS
In 2010 the USGA Girl’s Junior Amateur was played at the the Country Club of North Carolina, Pinehurst, Caroline, July 19-24th.  WJGA players who qualified to attend this event were Catherina Li, Jordan Ferreira, Katie Lee and Cherokee Kim.  Catherina Li and Jordan Ferreira qualified at Manito GYCC.  Katie Lee and Cherokee Kim qualified in Woodburn, OR.

Next year’s prestigious competition for young women will be contested at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois, July 18-23.

BOYS
The 2010 USGA Junior Amateur Championship was held at the Egypt Valley CC in Grand Rapids, Michigan from July 19-24.

The Washington players at the 2010 Championship were Carl Jonson, Bainbridge Island; and Tyler Carlson, Clarkston.  Both participants played some very good golf, but they did not make it to match play.

The 2011 event will be played at the Gold Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton, WA from July 18-23.
