Dear parents (and players),
Hello! and welcome to WJGA junior golf. We are so excited and looking forward to another
great season in 2013. I am Jennifer Boyd, your new tournament
director for district four. The most exciting thing to me about this
organization is that it is entirely run by volunteers. This makes
tournaments a family affair and a chance for our young people to learn
real life skills from us. I wish every player the best of luck this year
and I hope to see many parents and community members on the course as
well.
A big change has occurred in our district this year. We are welcoming
the Umatilla and Pendleton areas of Oregon to our district. Junior
golfers from this area have had less opportunities in the past to play
and we are happy to be able to add them to our area. Please be sure to
let us know if you do not see your home course in the list when
registering or if you have any other questions. I will do my best to
answer text and email as fast as possible.
We need volunteers! There are many opportunities to volunteer this year
including registration, scoring, officiating, setup and cleanup. Also
keep in mind if your child is 8-13, you will need to be or provide a
walking scorer for some of their rounds. Please read the requirements
before committing to them. Let me know if there is a job that you would
like to help with for one or more of our tournaments. If you would like
to be an official, please get ahold of me soon and I will connect you
with opportunities for training. We cannot do this without you!
This year I will post information as I have it for each course on the
Home page including directions, tee box instructions, and any other
important information. Please register by June 1st and be sure that your
player is able to play within the published scoring guidelines. If your player needs more
practice and is not at the level required for our association, please
consider other playing opportunities for golf in our district. You can
refer to Northwest Junior Golf or Golf Universe in Kennewick. These are
two junior golf programs that do a good job of supporting players of
many different skill levels in our area.
Once again, thanks for coming out this year. I can't wait to see you
all!
Jennifer Boyd
