Junior World Information Each year, WJGA hosts the state qualifier for the Junior World Championship held in San Diego, CA. This year the qualifier is being held at the Tumwater Valley Golf Club in Tumwater on July 1, 2008.
The top 10 boys and the top 10 girls from the 2007 points list who are age eligible for Junior World in 2008 and who are playing in a nationally sanctioned junior event in 2008 that conflicts with their sub district Junior World qualifying tournament, are eligible for an exemption from having to qualify at the sub district level for the junior world state qualifier at Tumwater. Exemptions are NOT automatic and must be requested by the WJGA member.
Requests for exempt status must be submitted to
your District Director TBD.
It is the responsibility of the player to bring
his/her exempt View a list of players eligible for exemption from Points List 2007. Players 14 years old and younger do not have to qualify to enter the Junior World national event. Deadline for these players is APPROXIMATELY mid-March 2008. To enter, contact the local San Diego office for additional information at 619-280-8505 or visit their website at www.juniorworldgolf.com for an entry form. 14 year olds MAY enter the WJGA Junior World qualifier and play for POINTS ONLY.
Players 15-17 years old must play
in their sub
district tournament designated as the Junior World qualifier,
except those granted exemptions in the above policy,
and
win a spot to play in the state qualifier. These players
must then win a spot at Tumwater to advance to the Junior World national
event held in San Diego. The
national event is open to players who will not
have reached their 18th birthday before midnight, July 20, 2008. Girls who score within 15 strokes of the course rating will advance to the state qualifier. Boys qualifying positions (spots) for the Junior World State Qualifier at Tumwater will be determined by the number of Junior World entries in each district. Your district director will post the number of spots available for boys at the beginning of the sub district tournament designated as the Junior World qualifier.
If you
earn an opportunity to play in the national event, you must have your
parent's permission to give
tournament officials your answer about whether
or not you will actually play in that event prior to the beginning
