Junior World Information July 1, 2008 is the date for
the qualifying tournament to determine which boys and girls will gain
entry to the 15-17 age division at this wonderful tournament in San
Diego. The qualifier will be held again at the Tumwater Valley Golf Club
in Tumwater. Details are as follows: We estimate that we will have four spots for the 15-17 boys and four spots for the 15-17 girls. Those numbers could change slightly when the tournament committee determines final allocations. To be eligible to go to San Diego the girls that finish in the top four must score within ten strokes of par in at least one of their two rounds at Tumwater Valley. All positions will be earned based on the 36-hole totals for the event. Each qualifier will be provided with expense assistance toward airfare and lodging. Players under age 15 do not need to qualify, and can apply for entry directly to the tournament. Entry forms for those 14 years old and younger can be obtained by calling the Junior World office at (619) 280-8505. Entry deadline for 14 year olds and younger, is approximately mid-March, 2008. WJGA 14-year old players do not have to qualify, but MAY enter the qualifying event at Tumwater if they wish to play for points. At the Tumwater qualifier, points will be awarded to both boys and girls who are competing in the 14-15 or 16-17 age divisions for the 2008 WJGA season. ALL TIES IN THIS EVENT WILL BE BROKEN BY THE METHOD DESCRIBED IN THE QUALIFYING FOR POINTS SHEET (available on-line). THERE WILL BE NO PLAYOFFS. At Junior World the player’s age will be the age as of the last day of the national tournament, July 18, 2008. Entry is completed electronically, online, at the time of registration. The entry form is the second page of the confirmation page you print after submitting the online registration form. The entry fee is $25 and the entry form and fee must be in the WJGA office by the May 31st, 2008 deadline. Each entrant MUST play (unless exempt see below) in the sub-district tournament in their district designated as the JR. WORLD QUALIFIER, and the number of spots available for the Tumwater statewide qualifier will be posted on the scoreboard before play begins.
