ATTESTING TABLE PROCEDURES             

MATERIALS NEEDED:  (all materials needed are provided by WJGA)
      Calculator
      Sharpie pens (at least two colors)
      Clock
      Radio
      Pairing Sheet

1)   Invite all players to sit down and remain seated until ALL scorecards in the group have
      been checked and accepted by the attesting officials.
 2)  Remind players that they are ONLY responsible for hole-by-hole scores and not the 
      addition.
3)   Have each marker read aloud, hole-by-hole, 3 holes at a time, to the player for whom he
      is scoring.
4)   Make sure scores are accurate and readable. If changes are made, have player explain   
      the reason for the change. Changes should be X'd out, not erased. If the marker scored a 
      wrong nine, change the hole numbers and make a note on scorecard of the error. As
      officials, do not change or write over scores. Have the players make any changes or
      making numbers legible.
5)   Suggest that the player tear off the lower strip with his own numbers and place directly  
      under the scores on the official player's scorecard to verify that scores match.
6)   PLAYER AND MARKER SIGN AND DATE THE SCORECARD.  
      Give scorecard to official.
7)   Official should verify that scores are readable. Add and place total in upper right hand  
       corner of scorecard with sharpie pen.  Have assistant also total the scorecard before
       giving scorecard to runner.
8)   If there are any questions about a score or a ruling, call for a rules official on the radio for  
      assistance.

      DO NOT LET PLAYERS LEAVE UNTIL THE SCORE IS PROPERLY

                         DETERMINED AND CARDS ARE SIGNED 

9)      When all scorecards in the group are finalized, excuse and thank the group.

REMEMBER, NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE AFTER THE PLAYER HAS LEFT THE ROPED ATTESTING TENT. THE SCORECARD IS NOW OFFICIAL.  

10) YOUR TASK IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT AREAS IN THE GAME OF GOLF: HELP THE PLAYERS RECORD THEIR SCORES CORRECTLY.

The time commitment required for this job would be approximately 5 to 5 ½ hours, if the field is going off one tee only.  If the field is split and some are going off the backside as well, the time commitment would be less.
