New to WJGA?
Are you interested in WJGA as a first-time member? Here are some of the most important FAQ’s –
Who can Play?
Members must be residents of the WJGA territory during the summer season (Washington, Northern Idaho, & NE Oregon) and are either US Citizens or non-citizens who have permanent resident status. Eligible players must be between the ages 8-18 (age as of August 1st determines the age bracket for both boys and girls).
Players must meet the following SCORING guidelines:
|*8-11 year old scores are based on 9 holes, played from forward tees.
|Each player’s score in their 1st event will be evaluated against these guidelines to confirm they can play at the required WJGA skill level.
How much does it cost?
WJGA membership fee is $55 per year.
Do members need a handicap?
No, WJGA members do not need a handicap. WJGA members interested in obtaining a handicap have the opportunity to join WA Golf’s Youth on Course program.
How do I join?
All registration is done online through WJGA’s BlueGolf portal, with links found at the registration page.
How is the program structured?
A. The state is divided into six districts depending on your home course.
B. Four one-day sub-district tournaments are held in each district; entry fee is $60 per event. Each player is attempting to qualify for their District Championship at these events.
C. There is a two-day district championship with each player attempting to qualify for the WJGA State Championship; entry fee is $125. Only players that qualified in at least one Sub-District event are eligible to compete in the District Championship.
D. The State Championship is a three-day tournament; entry fee is $185 with practice round at the host facility included.
E. All tournaments are based on age brackets for boys and girls, 8-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18, age as of August 1st of the current year.
F. Parents of 8-11 and 12-13 year olds must serve as or provide a walking scorer every WJGA round their child plays.
G. There are several events open to the entire WJGA membership with the field based on WJGA’s Scoring Based Entry system for 14-18 year olds, and open entry for 8-13 year olds.
