The Washington Junior Golf Association is excited to announce it will be sending four girls to represent Washington at the 2023 Mary Cave Cup at Singing Hills Resort in the greater San Diego, CA area from July 31 – August 2.

The Mary Cave Cup was established in 2003 and features several western state golf associations sending teams. The format is a two-girl team playing a better-ball, 36-hole tournament with Washington sending two 2-girl teams this year. The Mary Cave Cup has always been played in the San Diego area and is run by the San Diego Junior Golf Association.

This year’s teams will be selected at the conclusion of the WJGA Joel Dahmen Invitational and will be captained by District 6 Director Jennifer von Doehren.

The team will be selected based on the total points earned from the previous years WJGA Sub-Districts, WJGA Districts, WJGA State Championship, WJGA Cup, Junior World National Championship, GJAC and US Girls’ Junior plus points earned at the following events:

  • IMG Academy Junior World State Qualifier
  • Best three of four finishes at the Western Open, Eastern Open, Players Open and State Match Play.
Contestants may play in all four events, but for points and team selection purposes, only the best finishes of three of the four events will be used.
  • WJGA Joel Dahmen Invitational

A player may qualify and play on both the GJAC and Mary Cave Cup team.
