Position: Tournament Coordinator

Location: Sumner, Washington
FLSA Status: Part-time, Nonexempt
Reports To: Executive Director
Salary Grade: $30 per hour

About the Position: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Tournament Coordinator will assist in the preparation and conducting of assigned WJGA tournaments. The position can expect to be assigned to work at all spring weekend events, and be assigned specific tournaments to work during the summer, including the weeklong WJGA State Championship. Estimated workload of approximately 30 days a year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

– Assist in the administration of WJGA tournaments. Duties include, but are not limited to, communicating with participants and volunteers, providing off-site administrative duties including creating pairings, scorecards, local rules and other tournament related documents.

– Serve as the staff member in charge of assigned tournaments. Duties include, but are not limited to, pre-event site visits, golf course setup, local rules, on-site logistics and administration, and volunteer coordination.

– Attend other WJGA tournaments as an additional staff member to assist with on-site administration

– Under the direction of the Executive Director and in accordance with WJGA budgets, attend necessary meetings, education seminars, and other related functions, including: USGA Rules of Golf Workshops, necessary meetings, and other appropriate activities. 

Position Requirements:

– Experience with golf tournament operations or competitions is preferred but not mandatory.

– Some knowledge of the Rules of Golf is preferred but not mandatory.

– Proficient with Microsoft products including the Windows Operating Systems and Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

– Possess strong oral and written communication skills and is detailed oriented.

– Ability to work weekends and long hours on tournament days as required.

– Ability to listen to others and solve conflicts; integrates diverse viewpoints, ideas, and opinions when working with staff and others.

– Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, competitors, volunteers, and golf course staff.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and operate and travel in your own vehicle. Mileage reimbursement provided.
